Jones-Hope Legal and Advisory joined VESPIIA because the alignment was immediate. VESPIIA's mission to support Veterans and First Responders through meaningful, practical assistance reflects values we hold deeply. We have immense respect for the work Shannon and her team deliver, and we are proud to stand alongside an organisation creating real impact for those who have served.
Jones-Hope Legal and Advisory creates impact by helping people and organisations navigate complex legal, regulatory and personal challenges with clarity and confidence. Our work strengthens governance, improves decision-making and reduces risk for businesses and government agencies.
For individuals and families — including Veterans and First Responders — we provide steady, informed support through some of life's most difficult transitions. The difference we make is practical, measurable and human: better systems, better outcomes and better experiences for the people they affect.
The sector urgently needs to focus on stronger, consistent regulation. A growing number of organisations now operate in the Veteran and First Responder space — from advocates to law firms to support providers — but the quality, accountability and capability across these entities varies widely.
Without an overarching regulatory framework, vulnerable people are left to navigate a system that doesn't reliably protect them. Clear standards, accreditation and oversight are essential to ensure that those who serve are genuinely supported, not exploited.
A recent achievement we are deeply proud of is our pro bono work supporting veteran and war artist Mr George Gittoes. After being denied DVA-funded healthcare, we advocated on his behalf and successfully overturned the decision, ensuring he now receives the care he deserves as a veteran of war.
Alongside this, we have partnered with Homefront Australia and OpOZ to contribute ongoing editorial pieces that strengthen awareness and support across the sector.
A key insight for anyone working in this sector is the importance of capability and accountability. Veterans and First Responders often engage with us at vulnerable points in their lives, and the quality of support they receive can change their trajectory.
Take the time to understand the system, build genuine expertise and operate with integrity. Good intentions are not enough — the sector needs skilled, ethical practitioners who lift the standard for everyone.
