Help shape the sector from the inside
VESPIIA is seeking experienced and emerging professionals to join our Operational Committee — volunteer roles with real scope to contribute to national sector development. All roles are remote-friendly and require approximately 2–5 hours per month.
Why get involved
This is not a passive volunteer role
Committee members play a practical role in shaping programs, events, policy engagement, research and member services. We're particularly seeking representation beyond Western Australia to strengthen our national footprint.
National reform exposure
Contribute to policy submissions, sector consultations and roundtables at a national level.
Governance experience
Build practical committee and governance experience with a registered not-for-profit.
Cross-sector networks
Connect with practitioners across defence, fire, ambulance, police, corrections and research.
Flexible commitment
2–5 hours per month, fully remote. Clear scope, no ambiguity about what's expected.
Professional visibility
Recognised contribution to a national professional body within the first responder sector.
Evidence-informed work
Help build the resources, research and capability that make the sector stronger.

Governance Coordinator
Support board processes, compliance, documentation and governance systems. Suited to governance, legal or organisational development experience.
2–5 hrs/month · Remote
Policy & Advocacy Coordinator
Assist with submissions, consultations, roundtables and sector representation. Suited to public policy, research or advocacy experience.
2–5 hrs/month · Remote
Professional Development & Events Coordinator
Support delivery of CPD activities, workshops and member engagement events. Suited to event coordination or education backgrounds.
2–5 hrs/month · Remote
Membership Officer
Support member onboarding, engagement and retention initiatives. Suited to those who value systems, communication and community-building.
2–5 hrs/month · Remote
Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Assist with content planning, digital communications and brand consistency. Suited to communications professionals with a strategic focus.
2–5 hrs/month · Remote
Grants & Fundraising Coordinator
Support grant identification, funding applications and strategy development. Suited to writing, finance or development experience.
2–5 hrs/month · Remote
Community Engagement Coordinator
Build relationships with ESOs, universities and partner organisations nationally. Suited to stakeholder engagement and partnership experience.
