Membership

VESPIIA membership connects individuals and organisations working across the veterans, emergency services, and police sectors. Our members contribute to sector development, research, advocacy, and professional standards.

Each membership type is outlined below, including eligibility and fees. Full details are available in the VESPIIA Members Handbook.

Professional membership

Individual members

Professional Membership is for individuals working, studying, volunteering, or serving in roles that support veterans, emergency services, police, and their families. It connects you to a national network, member updates, and practical resources. Professional Members hold voting rights unless specified otherwise in the Constitution or By-Laws.

If you are unsure which grade applies, choose the closest match. We can adjust it during review.

Professional Member

For individuals employed full-time, part-time, or casually within the sector.

For individuals aged 60+ who have retired from formal employment but remain engaged in the sector.

Organisation membership

Organisational members

Organisational Membership is for entities delivering services, programs, goods, research, or operational support relevant to the sector. Organisational Members do not hold voting rights.

Organisation

Choose this if you: deliver programs or direct support services to veterans, emergency services, police, and their families.

Common examples: ex-service organisations, first responder support organisations, charities delivering wellbeing, transition, housing, employment, or family support.

Choose this if you: provide goods or professional services that support organisations and practitioners working in the sector.

Common examples: consulting, legal, finance, clinical and allied health, rehabilitation, training providers, tech platforms, research services, defence industry suppliers.

Affiliate

Choose this if you: work in an adjacent field and regularly intersect with the sector, or your services apply to service communities.

Common examples: community organisations, social enterprises, charities with overlapping cohorts, chaplaincy and spiritual care providers, family support services.

Academic Organisation

Choose this if you: are a university, RTO, training provider, or research institution conducting relevant research, teaching, evaluation, or inquiry.

Common examples: universities, research centres, institutes, accredited education providers delivering sector-relevant programs.

Organisational memberships include up to two appointed Voting Representatives who hold Professional Membership, in accordance with the By-Laws.

Associate membership

Associate members

Associate Membership is for organisations connected to the sector who support VESPIIA’s purpose, but do not fit the Organisational Member categories. Associate Members do not hold voting rights.

Associate Membership

Choose this if you: want to stay connected to the sector and take part in selected opportunities, but you are not delivering direct services, supplying goods or services, or operating as an academic provider.

Examples: community groups, networks, emerging initiatives, or organisations with an indirect but genuine link to the sector.
