About VESPIIA
VESPIIA is Australia’s professional body for veterans, emergency services and police industry organisations. We connect practitioners, researchers, service providers and government across the Australian veteran and first responder sector. As a national professional association and not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee, VESPIIA strengthens professional capability, representation and coordination across service-adjacent industries.
The Australian veteran and first responder sector
Australia’s veteran and first responder ecosystem includes thousands of organisations, service providers, researchers and volunteers operating across federal, state and community systems.
Despite the scale of activity, the sector has historically lacked unified professional representation, centralised data visibility and structured national coordination across policy, capability and reform discussions.
Public inquiries and government reviews have repeatedly highlighted fragmentation, uneven representation and limited shared infrastructure across the sector.
Our origin
VESPIIA was established in response to sustained sector feedback identifying the need for a structured, national professional body to support organisations operating within veteran and first responder environments.
Founders recognised that while individual organisations delivered essential services, there was no full-service peak body dedicated to strengthening the organisations, professionals and businesses within the ecosystem itself.
Membership provides individuals and organisations with access to national representation, sector-wide engagement and professional development pathways.
